HELLO AND WELCOME

ABOUT ME
I am an educator, learning specialist, and advocate for children.
I hold a Master’s of Art in Education with a concentration in Elementary Education (K-6) and have been a licensed educator for 19 years in Florida, Georgia, and California. I’ve had the privilege of teaching second through sixth grades and currently serve as a learning specialist, reading interventionist, and literacy mentor at a private school in San Francisco, CA, alongside running my private practice. My diverse experience spans both public and private school settings, and as a mentor teacher, I’ve guided several graduate students pursuing teaching careers. I am also committed to ongoing professional development in literacy and math, embracing a lifelong passion for learning.
My true passion lies in forming deep connections with my students and tailoring my approach to meet their unique needs, interests, and learning styles. I enjoy sparking their curiosity through creative teaching while fostering a growth mindset and resilience. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is facilitating self-discovery, watching children build confidence, recognize their strengths, and develop the self-advocacy skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
WHAT I OFFER
Customized Educational Experiences
As a skilled master teacher, my primary role is to be your family’s educational advocate. I reinforce what’s being done at school while filling in gaps in foundational skills. More importantly, I create a safe space where children can build self-esteem and resilience. I collaborate with support professionals such as speech and language therapists and occupational therapists, and implement strategies based on neuropsychological evaluations. My long-term relationships with students and families allow me to attend meetings with child psychologists and schools when it's beneficial.
ACADEMIC REMEDIATION
For children facing specific learning challenges or diagnosed learning differences, I provide data-informed, targeted instruction designed to strengthen key skills. I work closely with all members of your child's support team to ensure a comprehensive approach. I offer remediation in reading/literacy, mathematics, and writing.

Reading: I use the Orton-Gillingham approach, which breaks down language into manageable steps, from simple sounds to more complex patterns. This multisensory method engages sight, sound, and touch to ensure mastery before moving forward, building both confidence and reading success. I also incorporate research-based methodologies like Fundations, Wilson Reading System, and Slingerland, often adapting materials to be play- and game-based to enhance engagement.
Math: My approach to math support depends on the methods used at a child’s school. With many years of experience teaching conceptual-based modeling strategies (commonly referred to as "New Math"), I specialize in supporting the transition from Lower/Elementary to middle school (Grades 3-6).

TUTORING
I specialize in tutoring children who need additional support at school, complementing the work being done in their classrooms. I often teach current units and skills while previewing what's coming next to boost confidence and participation. This process involves close collaboration with families and teachers. With my experience supporting educators and working alongside learning specialists, I help build strong partnerships with school personnel, reinforcing the home-school relationship.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING
I offer individualized support in organization, time management, breaking down tasks step-by-step, self-control, mindfulness, and study skills. This includes research-based strategies to help children with attentional differences. My goal is to empower children to discover their strengths, develop essential life skills, and become successful self-advocates.
