ABOUT ME

I am an educator, learning specialist, and advocate for children.

I have a Master's of Art in Education with a concentration in Elementary Education (K-6). Over the last 15 years, I have been a licensed educator in Florida, Georgia, and California. I have taught second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. My experience includes tenure in public and private school settings in both urban and suburban locations. As a mentor teacher, I have been fortunate to have received additional professional development in literacy and math.

Over the years, I have discovered that my passion for teaching is building deep relationships with my students and individualizing my approach based on their specific needs, interests, and learning styles. I enjoy finding creative ways to spark a child’s interest and love helping children discover their strengths and build confidence. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a child become more self-assured and develop a love for learning.

Our son worked with Skye for over two years and the positive impact that she had on his learning was tremendous. Skye was able to quickly build a loving, nurturing relationship with our son while holding him accountable for the work he needed to accomplish. She worked tirelessly to create a thoughtful, meaningful and robust partnership with our family which helped us (my wife and I) to work more closely with our son to support him academically and help him reach the expectations that he and Skye developed together.  Whenever we had questions or concerns Skye was incredibly responsive and made herself available immediately.  Her dedication and passion for her students is nothing short of amazing! I would highly recommend Skye.

Erica and Kirk Lorie

My son has been working with Skye for three years now. Perhaps the best statement comes directly from him – when a 5thgrader tells you a teacher is clear, always fair, teaches well and respects the kids, one should know this means so much more. As a parent, I can tell that during this time Skye was – and is – a pleasure to work with. She completely understands the kids. She gets them, she likes them, and sees their best as well as their struggles, and is encouraging while holding them accountable. She worked with my sons’ strengths as well as his learning differences, and with us as a family in order to support his learning experience. During the year of learning remotely and managing all the technical, academic and social compromises, I watched my son grow, and become an adept learner despite all the obstacles. We couldn't have done this without her!
Lastly, Skye is a great communicator, and at the end of the day, clearly wants the kids to do their best, and then some. She’s the best.
